Who am I?
That is a tricky question. I can say I am an investor, but that’s my hobby. I can say I am an associate at fintech, but that’s my job. I can say I am an obedient son, but that’s my relationship with my parents. I can also say I am a content creator, but that’s my side hustle.
I am much more than my hobby, side hustle, job and relationships. Or maybe I am all of them. But the best way to describe me is Kashish Kapoor (Kung Fu Panda 2 reference).
Enough with the theatrics. Here is what you should know about me:
- Born and brought up in Ambala, Haryana; High school in Himachal Pradesh; Under-graduation from Delhi University; Currently Working in Bangalore
- Create content around personal finance, investing and self-help on LinkedIn & YouTube
- Working at Zerodha in Founder’s Office
- Previously worked with MNCs, Fintech Startups, SEBI Professionals and Intermediaries
- Can add value to you in the fields of Personal Financial Planning and Equity Research.
Rest I have made my LinkedIn fairly comprehensive 😉
What do I believe in?
I have always leaned toward finding the answer to the existential question – What is the meaning of life?
I look at our lives and find it funny how we are nothing but blobs of flesh with little intelligence on a big rock floating in space. This makes me feel how minuscule and irrelevant we are in the grander scheme of things. At the same time, I look at people like Warren Buffet, Elon Musk, Bruce Lee etc., who have had such an impact on the lives of others that they will be remembered for generations.
It’s all relative and paradoxical. Whatever the case, one’s existence is the only thing consistent across these. Whether my life is insignificant or I will be changing the course of the world in future, I will continue to exist. My body, soul and mind will stay with me till I die. Keeping them healthy is all that matters to me.
I guess that is what living a life “well lived” is all about. A life where from the day you are born till the day you die, you continue to improve in every sphere of your life is self-actualization. People say reaching your full potential is self-actualization. I beg to differ big time. You can never reach your full potential because your potential is limited only by your imagination.
Your potential is unlimited. The closest thing you can do is work towards reaching the infinite potential you possess.
I define reaching my ultimate potential as getting healthier each day.
That is my screensaver. Leading a healthy lifestyle. I copied the premise from one of Naval’s podcasts and continued refining it to its current point.
My health is all that matters to me. Nothing else. Being selfish and thinking about yourself reap great dividends in the long run. Believe me. People are going to be upset with your actions anyway. Why not at least be good to yourself?
And by health, I don’t just mean physical health. It’s much more than that.
It is:
- Physical Health
- Mental Health
- Financial Health
In that specific order.
Physical Health – Your body is the vehicle that allows you to interact with the physical world. Unless you plan to renounce it like a Yogi, taking special care of it is very important. This involves everything from getting enough sleep and eating the right foods to exercising enough.
Mental Health – Your mind is your greatest weapon and biggest kryptonite. You can yield it to conquer the world or submit to it like a powerless dweeb. It is your choice. Especially in the world of abundance where social media, porn and games are all trying to fuck with your mental health like anything else in the history of humanity, taking control of your mental health becomes a challenging task or as Tyler Durden puts it succinctly here.
Financial Health – The least important of all, yet a part of the only three things that actually matter in life. Money gives you the power and freedom that aren’t an absolute necessity to have, but you wouldn’t mind it if you had it in the first place. Moreover, I never want to be put in a situation where my family or I am doing things because of money problems. I just never want an external factor to dictate what I can/can not do in my life. Money solves this.
These are my guiding principles in life. I assess every day of my life by judging my actions to make me physically, mentally, and financially healthier. It was a great day if the answer is positive for all three. Simple.
